No doubt, this world weights heavy. I've noticed that so many people I love and care about are going through a transitional time in their lives. A time of change. A new season. A time that requires a shedding, a loss, a letting go of sorts. All of which is incredibly painful. And my heart hurts as I witness so many hold on to guilt and shame, and in turn, engage in a pattern of self-sabotage, sometimes unbeknownst to themselves. I am not immune either. We hold ourselves back, maintain a pattern of stagnation, punish ourselves. And in turn, we miss out on the beautiful opportunities that God has laid out before us. And so I grieve for those missed opportunities of greatness that so many of us let pass by. So I'm here to say - STOP IT!
So what's the answer?
We might seek fulfillment from things of this world - relationships, sex, money, material items like clothes, handbags, cars, power, fame, alcohol, drugs. Maybe even just trying to people please in order to fit in or feel accepted. But how's that workin' out? Chances are, you still feel empty and void inside. That's because often we chase after the wrong things. None of this is the answer we seek.
What I have come to realize, is that I can't do this world on my own. None of us can. It's too heavy. And we always fall short. That's why we need a Savior. And that is why I love Jesus. Through Him, we have the opportunity to receive the forgiveness and grace of God; it's a free gift if we are willing to accept it. And if God, our Creator, The Final Judge is so willing to extend His mercy to us, surely we can extend it to ourselves.
We were not meant to live in bondage. In fear. In doubt. In guilt. In shame. In resentment. In anger. In pain. In suffering. But this is the result of a fallen and broken world. The result of broken people. Deep down, what our hearts actually yearn for is God. We seek His healing. His love. His forgiveness. His healing. His courage. His strength. His confidence. And all of it...ALL OF IT...can be ours if we claim it.
I am a story of God's amazing transformation. A girl that used to be scared, sick, insecure, and who cowered. And now I am a woman of joy, faith, confidence, strength, boldness, and healing. And that is why I am so passionate about God's powerful and unfailing love. A love that perfects and makes whole.
